Ever feel like you want to know if there’s been any activity on your Facebook page or group, but don’t want to have to quit what you’re doing and log in to your account?

We've been frustrated by the fact that Facebook allows us to choose what kinds of notifications we get by email for our personal pages (there are 18 options for this, such as whenever someone sends you a message, adds you as a friend, "pokes" you, suggests a friend you might know, etc.)

However for Page notifications, only 3 options are given: When someone makes you a Page admin or suggests a Page to you; and you can choose to get or not get weekly updates on activity. That's it!

We’ve discovered a new, free service called Hyper Alerts that gives you the control over your Facebook notifications that Facebook should give you but doesn’t. Hyper Alerts emails you reports of posts and comments on Facebook Pages. You don’t have to be an administrator of the page to get email alerts, and you can have as many subscriptions as you want.

If you’re trying to engage with your customers or tastemakers in your industry who are a part of a Page, these alerts lets you find out when someone posts or comments in real time.

Here’s how to get started:

1. Go to hyperalerts.no and enter your email address where you wish the alerts to go to, and a password of your choice.
2. The next page lets you set up your alerts. You can add alerts in two ways:
    a. Click 'Add alert by URL' and just type in the URL for the Facebook page you'd like to monitor. Use     this option for Pages you want to keep up with but are not an admin of.
     b. Click ‘Add alert from your Facebook user.’ This option lets you choose from the list of pages that you administer.

You can add as many alerts as you like, and even multiple alerts for the same page. Multiple alerts for the same page would make sense if you wanted an immediate alert as well as a weekly report of all activity. Check the 'Own content' checkbox means to receive alerts on comments and posts by the Page administrators. The service will only provide alerts on posts newer than one month.
3. The next page is a list of the pages that you are administering. Click the 'Add this page' button to create an alert.
4. This menu allows you to choose how you want to receive updates. Choices are:
   a. As soon as possible
   b. Hourly
   c. Weekly
   d. Monthly
   e. Or Daily (in a digest form)

If you choose the ‘Daily’ option, you will need to choose what time of day you would like to receive the update.

5. Repeat step 4 for each page that you want to create an alert for.
Now, get back to your daily duties without worrying about Facebook, and let Hyper Alerts send the information to you when and how you want it!
