Posting from Your Website to Social Media

Image Posting from Your Website to Social Media

There are many times when you might want to post the content of your website directly to Facebook or Twitter. For example, you might want announcements, new products, or blog posts to automatically display on your social media pages. You can do this using a third-party app such as HootSuite or dlvr.it to connect an RSS feed to your social media pages.

There are two steps to putting your website content on social media pages such as Facebook and Twitter:

  1. Create an RSS feed. You will need to ask your web developer to help you with this.
  2. Use a third-party application to point to your RSS feed and connect it to your social media accounts for automated posting.

There are many services that allow you to automatically post from an RSS feed to Facebook and other social media, including dlvr.it, RSS Graffiti, and HootSuite. Once you have the link to your RSS feed, simply copy and paste the link into the correct field.

If you are already using HootSuite to schedule social media posts, we recommend you add your RSS feed through that service. In Hootsuite, click the Publisher link (the paper airplane icon)--> RSS Feeds and click the “+” icon to add a new Feed. HootSuite provides you with the following options:

If you are looking for a straightforward way to go from RSS to Facebook, we recommend dlvr.it. Dlvr.it offers a free and a paid plan. The free plan should meet most of your needs. Dlvr.it has many options for scheduling and tracking your posted items.

The third service you could try is RSS Graffiti, a Facebook application that allows you to post an RSS feed to Facebook. Regardless of the solution you choose, connecting an RSS feed to your social media pages is a great way to keep your pages updated with little effort on your part.
