Join Your Local Chamber of Commerce

The idea of joining the Chamber of Commerce in your town is not a new one, but it is often an overlooked marketing strategy. The cost of joining might seem prohibitive for a start-up business, but membership offers many advantages. As a point of reference, the Eugene, Oregon Chamber requires a $469 membership fee for an organization with 10 to 19 employees. The neighboring, smaller city of Springfield requires only a $285 membership fee for up to 25 employees.

Our local Chamber hosts once-a-month after-hours business get-togethers at different business each month. The get-togethers provide light hors d'oeuvres, wine, and excellent networking opportunities. It's a perfect time to share your business with other professionals.

Your business information will also appear in the Chamber membership directory, which is often the first place other member professionals look when they are shopping for goods and services. Typically, when a business joins the Chamber, they get a write-up in the newsletter and/or on the website, so again, it's an excellent opportunity to get some advertising and promotion for your business.

Contact your local Chamber of Commerce for more information about joining. Consider the fees a small investment for the professional advantages and ready-made audience of people who are receptive and supportive to other local businesses.
