Add a Call to Action to Your Facebook Cover Image
Recent changes in Facebook’s cover photo policy now give your business the power to be more creative with the way you can use this image to promote your business, products, or services.
When you visit a Facebook page, the cover photo is the first thing you see (at the top, nearly the entire width of the page). These photos are always public (visible to anyone), and until recently, came with a number of rules regarding the content. For example, calls to action, price and purchasing information, and even contact information (including URLs) were all banned. Now, these rules have been lifted, so users can add text to their image and get creative with their messaging.
Update your cover photo in the spirit of the loosened rules so you catch the attention of visitors the moment they land on your page. Use this prime real estate on your Facebook page to your company’s advantage. Here are some ideas you can implement right away:
- Include a call to action to draw people to your business or website (make sure your URL is included in your photo!)
- Announce an upcoming sale or contest
- Feature a new product teaser with an image and “Coming Soon” displayed prominently
