Use Google In-Page Analytics to Track User Behavior

Ever wondered if people are clicking the link to that promotion you put so much thought into? Using Google’s In-Page Analytics you can evaluate which links are getting the most action on your website. Equipped with this information you can begin adjusting your website to direct more visitors to the key links on each page.

To get started using In-Page Analytics:

  • From the Google Analytics Reporting page click on Behavior in the left-hand menu. Then click In-Page Analytics from the expanded options.

    • Due to the security settings of many browsers you may get an error message that your page cannot display. Simply click the shield icon in the address bar and allow insecure content to load.

  • If you use Chrome as your web browser, you can download a browser extension for even easier monitoring of your In-Page Analytics.

In-Page Analytics displays a percentage next to each link on your website. This number represents the percentage of visitors to your website that clicked each link. These metrics should help you understand how the layout and language on your page impact clickthroughs.
